Jr Cowboy Cadillac picked up his second career stakes victory in the $23,415 UQHRA Colts & Geldings Derby Sunday afternoon at Weber Downs.

OGDEN, UT–APRIL 21, 2024–Last year's Hadley-Giles Futurity winner Jr Cowboy Cadillac returned to the winner's circle today, after a long layoff, in the $23,415 UQHRA Colts & Geldings Derby at Weber Downs.
Under jockey Uriel Dominguez, Jr Cowboy Cadillac flew from the gate to post a 1-1/2 length win over Dr B. It was the son of leading second-crop sire Flying Cowboy 123's fourth win in five career starts.
Trainer Kylie Valenzuela saddled the black Nevada-bred gelding for owner-breeder J R Stables. Bred from the Foose mare Jr Dash Of Shania, Jr Cowboy Cadillac picked up $9,834 to increase his earnings total to $44,121.
Runner-up Dr B is a stakes-winning son of champion Duponte racing for owner Ricard Castillo and Rainee Browning. Castillo also trains the Texas-bred from the Mr Jess Perry mare Mr Jess. Jockey Jose Espinoza rode the Jackie Sessions bred colt who won the Malad Futurity in 2023. Dr B picked up $3,980 for today's effort to bring his bankroll to $29,830.
Edwin Rosales' Da Bros Cartel finished half-a-length back to earn $2,810 for third. Trainer Jose Gomez named jockey Cesar Moreno to ride the Carters Cartel Oregon-bred gelding from the Stoli mare Glitteratti. Bred by Hayden Brothers Ranch, last year's Far West Futurity winner has banked $58,255 in eight career starts.
Coronas With One S, Tiny Capitan, California Best Card, Cas 23, Chick Tempter, and Peregrino Af completed the field. Nytro was scratched
