Jordan Driver took a huge leap of faith diving into The Texan just days before the National Collegiate Championship Shootout and making the choice of which horse to take. Luckily her choice paid off as she chose to ride her and her 6-year-old gelding, TRHeavensilluminated for The Texan.
The team clocked an amazing 14.691 to beat the other 1,543 contestants including American Champion Brandon Collins and MJ Segers Fast Lane and drivers own hauling partners LaTricia Duke and DM High Roller by .139 seconds .
“I’m still trying to process it all!” said Driver, who hails from Garden City, Texas. “It was so nerve wracking! I can finally breathe! I think I’ve made myself sick the last two days watching the barrel race until last night!” Driver told Barrel Racing Report.
“Cyrus” has had an outstanding career thus far, placing 5th in the Breeders Challenge Open Futurity back in 2022 and 2nd in the 1D at the Ruby Buckle Central Futurity. This outstanding run will take TRHEAVEAVENSILLUMINATED all the way into the 2nd highest money earning slot for leading sire JL Dash Ta Heaven’s offspring. Bred by Harry Thomas, Cyrus is out of million dollar producer and two-time WPRA Reserve World and NFR Champion TR Dashing Badger (“Dolly”), by Mr Illuminator.
