Our Story
1998
Jerry and Betty Wells purchased 90 acres in Wayne, Oklahoma, just 45 minutes south of Oklahoma City 1 mile off of Interstate 35 and began building a premiere training and breeding facility.
2005
Vaughn and Jill Cook DVM of Ft. Collins, CO purchased the ranch from the Wells’ and in partnership with Laura Erickson began operations as Royal Vista Ranches, Inc, a prominent equine reproduction facility.
Over the years, the farm expanded to a total of 250 acres and was home to many of the industry’s leading racing Quarter Horse sires along with many other notable sires from different disciplines within the Quarter Horse world. While working in cooperation with Royal Vista Southwest for both embryo transfer and veterinary services, Royal Vista Ranches offered reproduction, foaling, and sales prep services to many of the industry’s finest horses. The relationships forged with clients and friends along the way set up a successful operation with an outstanding reputation built on service quality, honesty and integrity.
2020
After a long-fought health battle Vaughn Cook passed away in 2020 and his wife Jill Cook and Laura Erickson continued business and operations.
2022
In 2022, it was decided to sell Royal Vista Ranches and welcome in a fresh new start. Cole Morehead and his wife, Marijo, purchased the farm in July of 2022 and immediately began plans for growth and expansion while carrying on the long established legacy of Royal Vista Ranches.
