This Candys Awesome Impresses In Valley Junction Futurity Trials

This Candy's Awesome, under jockey Tony Bennett, wins the second Valley Junction Futurity trial by three lengths at Prairie Meadows.

ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 27, 2013—Making her first start since June 2, the lightly raced This Candys Awesome roared to a three-length win at Prairie Meadows on Friday evening to post the top qualifying time to the Grade 3 Valley Junction Futurity.

The 10 fastest 2-year-olds, from the seven trial races contested, will return on Saturday, October 11 and compete for the winner's piece of a $75,000-added purse at 350 yards.

Under jockey Tony Bennett This Candys Awesome completed the 350 yard course in :17.383 seconds, a 102 speed index to get the top qualifying time for owner/breeder Carl Pevehouse. Clinton Crawford trains the filly by leading sire PYC PAINT YOUR WAGON from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Send Candy. She broke her maiden in her first start May 9 at Remington Park then finished fifth in the RG3 Easy Jest Stakes in her only other outing.

Randy Hill and Stacy Charette-Hill's Promise Me Pyc finished second in the last trial to get the eighth fastest time of :17.732 seconds. Stacy also trains the PYC PAINT YOUR WAGON colt out of Pie Sky Promises by Pie In The Sky. Dorothy Charette bred Promise Me Pyc in Oklahoma. He has won his two previous starts.
