Royal Vista Ranches Sire Tri-Fecta In Adequan Retama Park Derby

Dm Red Tide (#3) gets up over Bulletsinthegun (#1) and James On The Run (#9) in the Adequan Retama Park Derby Challenge on Saturday.

SELMA, TX—AUGUST 10, 2013—Two noses separated the top three finishers, all sired by Royal Vista Ranches stallions, in the $48,690 Adequan Retama Derby Challenge Saturday night with Dm Red Tide getting the call over Bulletsinthegun and James On The Run.

Ridden by Cipriano Vidana for trainer Jorge Muniz, Dm Red Tide sped across the sloppy racetrack in :20.036 seconds to pick up the winner's purse of $22,397. Owner Juan Escalan's the WAVE CARVER 3-year-old also secured a spot in the $200,000-Guaranteed Adequan Derby Challenge Championship(G2) on November 9 during the Bank of Challenge Championship's at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Bred in Oklahoma from the Sixarun mare Sashay N Six, Dm Red Tide has a 3-4-3 record after 17 starts with earnings of $52,652.

Making only six seventh career appearance, Bulletsinthegun stepped up from a claiming race just two races back to finish second, earning $9,738 for owner Juan Miguel Rodriguez and trainer Jacobo Mejia. Edgar Martinez rode the Jimmy and Elaine Coffman Texas-bred. The bay gelding is by leading sire PYC PAINT YOUR WAGON from the Illegal Runaway mare Flyin Legal.

Super consistent James On The Run has been in the money 10 of 12 starts and picked up $4,869 for third. Rancho Los Dos Potrillos LLC race the IVORY JAMES gelding out of Injun On The Run, by Invisible Injun. Bred in Texas by Bobby Cox, James On The Run is conditioned by Brandon Muniz and ridden by Manuel Gutierrez.
