OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 3, 2022–Number 2 leading third-crop sire ONE FAMOUS EAGLE sired three finalist on Sunday for the $270,535 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby.
Peves Charley scored a two-length win in the third of five trials to post the third fastest time of :19.908 seconds into a 16 mph headwind. Trainer Jerry Livingston named jockey Cristian Esqueda to ride the son of ONE FABULOUS EAGLE for owner Regina Laymon.
Gordon Pevehouse bred multiple stakes-placed gelding from the Okey Dokey Dale mare Miss Okey Dokey Zevi. He has won three of seven starts and earned $61,650.
The ONE FAMOUS EAGLE gelding A Tres Of Eagle just missed winning the fastest trial to get the fourth fastest clocking of :19.910 seconds into a 15 mph headwind. Trainer Eddie Lee Willis sent out the gelding for owner Bella Vista Farms. Bred by The Mixer Ranch from the Tres Seis mare A Tres Of Paint, A Tres Of Eagle has had only had three career starts.
Deutsch, a ONE FABULOUS EAGLE gelding who was second to the aforementioned Peves Charley, got the final qualifying spot with a time of :20.252 seconds. Bred, owned-and-trained by Patrick Swan, Deutsch is out of the Fredricksburg mare Hollie Jollie. A stakes winner of more than $60,000, Deutsch won the Valley Junction Stakes last season at Prairie Meadows.
