Muy Peligrosito Extends Win Streak To Four, Sets Fastest Time In West Texas Derby Trials

SUNLAND PARK, NM—JANUARY14, 2022—Muy Peligrosito, a Grade 2 winning son of third-crop sire ONE FABULOUS EAGLE, scored his fourth consecutive win on Friday while posting the fastest qualifying time for the $172,200 West Texas Derby(G3) at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from six trial races contested today over 400 yards, will return to Sunland Park on Saturday, February 5th to vie for the $80,934 winner's purse.

Coming off an impressive win in the $100,000 Southwest Juvenile Invitational Stakes (G2) at Zia Park in his last start December 5th, Muy Peligrosito rolled to another daylight win over fellow qualifier Jess Kant Catch Me in the fifth trial to set the fastest time of :19.423 seconds, a 101-speed index with a 4-mph tailwind.

Eric Valenzuela named jockey Adrian Ramos to ride the Mexico-Bred gelding for owner Super Champion, Inc. Darling Farms and Jaime H. Gomez bred the two-time stakes winner from the Walk Thru Fire mare Peligrosita.

Muy Peligrosito also won the $200,000 All American Juvenile Invitational at Ruidoso Downs and has earned $150,540 with four wins in five starts.
