Edward Ashley Qualifies For Grade 1 $1.1 Million Texas Classic Futurity

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 8, 2021—Edward Ashley, a son of leading second-crop sire ONE FABULOUS EAGLE, posted the 4th fastest time on Night 2 of trials for the Grade 1 $1,114,815 Texas Classic Futurity.

The five fastest qualifiers from Night 1 (Nov. 6) and five fastest qualifiers from Night 2 (Nov. 7) will face off in the 400 yard Texas Classic Futurity(G1) final at Lone Star Park Saturday, November 27th. The winner will take home $496,092 with the last-place horse earning $27,870.

Edward Ashley was clocked in  :19.939 seconds while finishing a head off fellow qualifier Special Apollitical. Trainer James J. Gonzales III named jockey Mario Delgado to ride Edward Ashley for owner Cody Cobb.

Cobb purchased the gelding for $47,0000 at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale from breeder Edward D. Leslie, MD. The lightly raced colt has lit the board in three of four starts and was troubled sixth in the $414,995 Dash For Cash Futurity(G2) last month. Edward Ashley has banked $26,380 to date.

Out of the Grade 1 producing Heza Fast Man mare Ashleys Gold Digger, he is a half-brother to Southwest Juvenile Championship(G1) winner Gold Digging Ashley ($355,195).
