Deutsch Rallies To Win $20,000 Valley Junction Juvenile

Deutsch (#11) got up over Candy Hero (#10) and Hard Rock Candy (#6) in the $20,000 Valley Junction Juvenile Friday night at Prairie Meadows.

ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 24, 2021—Deutsch, under jockey Nik Goodwin, rallied to defeat Candy Hero by a head in the $20,000 Valley Junction Juvenile Saturday night at Prairie Meadows. Hard Rock Candy was another head back in the blanket-finish to take third.

Owned-trained and bred by Patrick Swan, Deutsch completed the 350-yard course in :17.671 seconds, earning 94-speed index with a 5 mph tailwind. It was the fourth win in five starts for the son of leading second-crop sire of winners ONE FABULOUS EAGLE.

Swan bred Deutsch in Oklahoma from the Fredricksburg mare Hollie Jollie. He picked up $7,200 for tonight effort and has banked $35,435 this season.

Candy Hero put in a game effort under jockey Bonifacio Quiroz to earn $4,600 for second. Ed Hardy trains the Oklahoma-bred for owner XCEL Partners 2020. 

Making just her fourth career start Hard Rock Candy earned $2,400 for owner-trainer Stacy Charette-Hill. The trainer-owner was also the co-breeder of the colt with Randy Hill. Hard Rock Candy was ridden by Alberto Navarrete, Jr.

Madd Maxx, World Class Perry, Jodis Rowdy Bogart, Fleeing Memories, Gfr Gone N Dun It, Apolitical Sass and Sabbatical Jess completed the field.
