Magnanni Fastest Qualifier In Oklahoma Horsemens Mystery Futurity Trials

Magnanni, under champion jockey James Flores, holds off Tres Elegance, to set the fastest time from eight trials Saturday for the $175,000-est. Mystery Futurity at Will Rogers Downs.


CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 11, 2021—Magnanni got his second career win on Saturday when he defeated Tres Elegance by a neck while setting the fastest qualifying time for the Oklahoma Horsemen's Mystery Futurity at Will Rogers Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from eight trials races contested over 350 yards for accredited Oklahoma Bred 2-year-olds, will return to Will Rogers Downs on Sunday September 26th to vie for the winner's share of a $175,000-est. purse.

Under champion jockey James Flores, Magnanni completed the 350 yard course in :17.721 seconds, equaling a 90 speed index into a 14 mph crosswind to establish to top mark. Trainer Toby Keeton saddled the son of Grade 1 sire IVORY JAMES to his second career win for owners Louis Trey Malechek III and Ben Frank Butler.

Bred in Oklahoma by AQHA Champion Breeder Bobby D. Cox, from the sakes producing Azoom mare Zumbaya, Magnanni sold for $11,500 at the 2020 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale. He broke his maiden at Remington Park in May and was second in Allowance at Fair Meadows in his last start June 19th. He has earned $19,201.
