Jettz Qualifies For $673,556 Grade 1 Ruidoso QH Derby

Jettz (#5) and Maholmes (#9) dead-heat for the win in the ninth Ruidoso QH Derby trial Sunday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—MAY 30, 2021—Jettz, a Grade 1-Placed son of leading second-crop sire ONE FABULOUS EAGLE, got his first win as a 3-year-old today in the sixth of 10 trials contested for the $673,556 Grade 1 Ruidoso QH Derby at Ruidoso Downs.

Jettz bumped after the start under jockey Francisco Calderon before dead-heating for the win with fellow qualifier Mahomes. The pair stopped the clock in :19.550 seconds for the 400 yards, equaling a 99 speed index on a wet fast (sealed) racetrack with a 14 mph tailwind. The pair tied for the ninth fastest spot in the June 12th final.

Racing for owner-breeder Bobby D. Cox, Jettz has compiled an (8) 3-1-2 record and banked $373,434. Jettz was 3rd in the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity, 4th in the Grade 1 All American Futurity and 5th in the restricted Grade 1 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity last season. Juan Vazquez is the trainer.

Cox bred the brown gelding in Oklahoma from the First Down Dash mare First To Celebrate.
