OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 29, 2021—Instygator got his third consecutive second-place finish in a major graded stakes race Saturday night after a second-place effort to Relentlessly in the Grade 2 $361,010 Heritage Place Derby at Remington Park.
On his heels at the break, post-time favorite Instygator finished three-quarters off the winner and earned $61,372 for his effort. Trainer Edelmiro Carrizales named two-time AQHA Racing champion jockey to ride the son of multiple stakes sire IVORY JAMES.
Owned by Barboza Racing Corp., Instygator has compiled a (9) 5-3-1 record and banked $879,063. Last season he was second in the Grade 1 All American Futurity and Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity and third in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity.
AQHA Racing champion breeder Bobby D. Cox bred the brown gelding in Texas from the multiple stakes producing Mr Eye Opener mare Eye Popping.
Instygator could make his next start in the Rainbow Derby or All American Derby trials at Ruidoso Downs.
