One Fabulous Eagle Sires Two Qualifiers to $477,200 Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park

Peves Charley, under jockey Cristian Esqueda, winning the last of 14 trials for the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park Monday night.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 8, 2021—Pevs Charley, a son of last year's leading first-crops sire of winners ONE FABULOUS EAGLE, broke his maiden in his first start on Monday in the trials for the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park. When he hit the wire, the 2-year-old gelding was in front of his competitors by three-quarters.

His time of :15.918 for 300 yards over the fast track was the fourth fastest qualifying time in 14 trials on Monday for the $477,200 Oklahoma Futurity.  The race final will run back at Remington Park on Saturday, March 20 with the winner expected to take home more than $190,800.

Trainer Kenny Laymon saddled Pevs Charley for owner Regina Laymon.  Cristian Esqueda rode the bay Oklahoma-bred out of Miss Okey Dokey Zevi by Okey Dokey Dale. Gordon Pevehouse is the breeder.

In the third trial Jr What You Mean, a daughter of ONE FABUOUS EAGLE drew off to a one-length win under jockey Juan Pulido to secure the 10th fastest qualifying time of :15.993 seconds. A home bred racing for owner-breeder Rio Sosa, Jr What You Mean is trained by Edelmiro Carrisales. The sorrel filly is out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Dolls In Fire.
