Cm One Ina Bluemoon easily won the Crater Lake Handicap (not blacktype) Monday evening at Grants Pass Downs.

GRANTS PASS, OR—SEPTEMBER 29, 2020—Multiple stakes winner Cm Once Ina Bluemoon defeated Chicks Fast Farley by 1-¼ lengths in the Crater Lake Handicap (not blacktype) Monday evening at Grants Pass Downs.

Under jockey Luis Gonzalez Cm Once Ina Bluemoon let almost wire-to-wire over the 660 yards while stopping the timer in :30.379 seconds, equaling a 109 speed index.

Trainer Nick Lowe saddled the son of multiple stakes sire IVORY JAMES to his 13th career win for owner Chis Sutton. The 5-year-old gelding has compiled a (33) 13-5-4 record and the $7,400 Crater Lake winners' purse boosted his bankroll to just shy of $100,000.

Bred in Oregon by Randy Dickerson, from the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Cool Blue Corona, Cm Once Ina Bluemoon entered the race off a win in the Bank of America Emerald Downs Distance Challenge on August 20. It was the second consecutive win for the gelding in the Emerald Downs Distance Challenge.

Runner-up Chicks Fast Farley earned $3,700 for his effort. Owned-and-trained by Diego Guerrero, the 9-year-old son of Chicks N Honey was ridden by jockey Jose Guerrero. Henry and Georgia Van Ornum bred the chestnut horse from the First Down Cash mare CPR First Time. He has earned $46,630.

Bonofly, a Bono Jazz gelding, finished two-lengths back to earn $1,776 for third. Dustie Crystal saddled the gray gelding for owner-breeder Gilbert Daniels. James Lopez had the riding call on the 5-year-old gelding out of Fly Misty Fly by Devon Lane (TB).

Flyin Rocks, Lookithatcavemango, Beer Thrity and Ez Feisty Patriot completed the field.
