Led by Babes Fabulous Eagle, Royal Vista Sires Dominate Bitterroot Futurity Trials

Babes Fabulous Eagle, under jockey Cesar Moreno, setting the fastest qualifying time at Pocatello Downs on Friday for the Bitterroot Futurity.


POCATELLO, ID—JULY 20, 2020—Royal Vista Ranches stallions dominated five trials for the $70,000-added Bitterroot Futurity on Friday (July 17) at Pocatello Downs, qualifying three to the final and three to the $10,000-est. Bitterroot Juvenile Stakes.

Leading first-crop sire ONE FABUOUS EAGLE sired two horses to the Bitterroot Futurity and two to the Juvenile while multiple stakes sire DOMINYUN got one in the Futurity and one in the Juvenile.

Stakes winner Babes Fabulous Eagle led the group of two-year-olds with the fastest clocking. The ONE FABUOUS EAGLE gelding won the fourth of five trials on Friday. Ridden by Cesar Moreno, for trainer Monty Arrossa, Babes Fabulous Eagle cleared the field by over two lengths and earned a 93 speed index in the victory. His clocking of :17.726 or the 350 yards set the top mark.

Babes Fabulous Eagle, owned by Merlin Sharp and bred in Idaho by Darling Farms, is out of Gone Babie Gone, by Jess Zoomin. He was also the recent winner of the South Valley Futurity at Laurel Brown in June. Babes Fabulous Eagle was fifth in his trial for that race but still qualified to the final and has now won two of his three career starts and earned $11,071.

J R Stables' Nevada homebred Jr Hiway 93 posted the seventh fastest time in the futurity off a third-place effort in his trial. Riley Moosman conditions the ONE FABUOUS EAGLE gelding for owner-breeder J R Stables. Ridden by jockey Jesus Valenzuela, Jr Highway 93 is out of the Panther Mountain mare Prissy B Panther.  Jr Hiway 93 posted an :18.007 clocking.

Completing the Bitterroot Futurity field with the 10th fastest time was Compendium, a son of multiple stakes sire DOMINYUN. Bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox, Compendium races for Hanson Racing LLC, Larry Chapple and Brian Goody. The sorrel gelding was third in Babes Fabulous Fortune's fastest trial to get a time of :18.139 seconds. Nakia Ramirez rode the gelding out of Shenoshercorona by Corona Cartel.

In the $10,0000-est. Bitterroot Juvenile Stakes ONE FABULOUS EAGLE sired 6th fastest qualifier Bravo Delta Charlie and 9th fastest qualifier DF Fabulouscountryjo.

Bravo Delta Charlie races for owner Five Livestock Company LLC and Steve Wright. Monty Arrossa trains the Oklahoma-bred gelding out of An American Cartel by Corona Cartel. Bobby Cox is the breeder.

DF Fabulouscountryjo is  a Darling Farms Oklahoma-bred colt racing for owner Adrian Aleman and trainer Ricardo Castillo.  DF Fabulouscountryjo is out of the Country Chicks Man mare Jo Jos Country Chick.

Elite Roc Starr, by DOMINYUN, posted the 8th fastest time for the Bitterroot Juvenile Stakes. Trainer Paul Greene conditions the Idaho-bred 2-year-old gelding for owner-breeder Dan Moon. Elite Roc Starr is out of the Red Hot Rhythm mare All Star Elite.

The 10 qualifiers will return to Pocatello Downs on Friday, July 31st to vie for the winner's share of the purse.
