Dominyn, Ivory James Sire Qualifiers to WHR Open Futurity at Sweetwater Downs

Pitchforks Panther posted the third fastest time in the $15,000-added WHR Open Futurity at Sweetwater Downs in Rock Spring, Wyoming.


ROCK SPRINGS, WY—AUGUST 24, 2019—Royal Vista Ranches' stallions DOMINYUN and IVORY JAMES each got a qualifier to the $15,000, added WHR Open Futurity at Sweetwater Downs on Saturday.

Pitchforks Panther, stakes-placed son of DOMINYUN finished third in the fastest trial to get the third fastest clocking of :17.747 seconds, a 91 speed index. The sorrel gelding showed early speed under jockey Carlos Guillen Chacon.

Trainer Roberto Treto saddled Pitchforks Panther for owner Victory Ortiz. The Painted Pitchfork bred the gelding in Colorado from the Panther Mountain mare Special Ladypanther. Second in the Golden Spike Futurity in April, Pitchforks Panther has compiled a (5) 2-1-1 record and earned $19,735.

Vf Silverback, was fifth in the same trial to get the sixth fastest overall time of :17.960 seconds, an 85 speed index. The IVORY JAMES gelding ridden by jockey Todd Thomas was bumped in the race.

The stakes-placed gelding races for owners Kelly and Kyle Cooks and is conditioned by trainer Jay Pitcher.  Victory Farms bred Vf Silverback in Oklahoma from the Mr Jess Perry mare Perrys Folly. Third in the Golden Spike Futurity earlier this year, he has earned $6,617.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Sweetwater Downs on Saturday, September 7th to vie for the winner's share of a $15,000-added purse.
