TULSA, OK—JULY 28, 2018—With a clean outside trip, Rappid and jockey Alfredo Triana Jr. dueled to a half-length victory in the feature race on Fair Meadows’ Saturday night card, the Grade 3 $222,000 Speedhorse Quarter horse Futurity.

Rappid ($14.60) stumbled in her trial and finished second as the fourth fastest qualifier overall from 12 trials held on July 13. In Saturday’s final, she posted a time of :17.899 in 350 yards and earned an 86 speed index.

Prior to the trial, Rappid finished fifth in the $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile at Remington in June but broke out and was placed tenth through disqualification.

Saturday’s clean trip reflected the ability shown by the IVORY JAMES filly when she broke her maiden at Remington in April.

Rappid is owned and trained by Matthew Eck. The Oklahoma-bred filly was bred by Bobby Cox, out of graded stakes placed mare Azoomin With Jesse, by Azoom.

Her win in the Speedhorse Futurity was her first stakes win and only her second career victory. It boosted her lifetime earnings to $106,684 in six starts.

Seventh fastest qualifier Dynasty First Class finished second at odds of 15-1 despite winning her trial by a length.

Dynasty First Class was one of four finalists in the Speedhorse Futurity to hail from the R.L. Robinson barn. Andrew Samaniego had the call for owner Dunn Ranch. Dynasty First Class was bred in Oklahoma by Matt Dunn.

She had only started twice prior to her trial, in which she broke her maiden. With her second-place finish, the filly has now earned $48,128 in four starts and has never finished off the board.

Redneckedness and Jose Vega finished a nose behind in third place. The fifth fastest qualifier was third in her trial after winning the $15,000 Fair Meadows Juvenile Stakes in June.

Redneckedness is two for six lifetime with earnings of $47,422. Michael Gunter trains for owner Good Memories LLC. The 2-year-old filly was bred in Arkansas by Belinda Shaw.

Completing the field were Dynasty Leader, Americas Dynasty, The Churchwellcartel, Tuff Copa Lbh, Sheza Highclass Girl, Ms Apollitical Cash and Fly N Tell.
