Barefoot Beach Finished Third in Harrah's Dash

Barefoot Beach, by Ivory James, was kicked off her 2018 season with a third-place effort in the Harrah's Dash at Louisiana Downs.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 6, 2017—Harrah’s Louisiana Downs kicked off its 2018 American Quarter Horse season on Saturday afternoon. The seven-race program included the first stakes of the meet, the $15,000 Harrah’s Dash. Barefoot Beach, a 5-year-old mare by multiple stakes sireIVORY JAMES, finished third in a blanket finish where the top three horses were separated by a neck, neck and a nose.

Jesus Garrido saddled the brown mare for owner Samuel Martinez. Randy Edison rode the multiple stakes winner from the Invisible Injun mare Babe On The Beach. Bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox, Barefoot Beach earned $1,650 for her third-place effort, pushing her lifetime earnings total to $106,175.

Barefoot Beach won the French Quarter Stakes at Fairgrounds Racecourse in New Orleans in 2016. She was second in the Miss Houston Stakes, Sam Houston Distaff, Sam Houston Distaff Challenge and third in the TQHA 250 Stakes and Live Oak Handicap. Barefoot Beach also qualified to the Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby at Lone Star Park.
