Dominyun, Ivory James Geldings Qualify for Iowa Double Gold Derby

Damn Straight (#9) and Bout Tree Fiddy (#1) finished just off fastest qualifier Mary Paintyourwagon (#3) in the Iowa Double Gold Derby trials on Saturday at Prairie Meadows Saturday.

ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 19, 2017—Graded stakes-placed Damn Strait finished a neck off stablemate Mary Paintyourwagon Saturday to get the second fastest qualifying time for the Iowa Gold Derby Saturday at Prairie Meadows.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Iowa racetrack on Saturday, September 2nd to vie for the winners' share of a $85,000-est. purse going 400 yards.

Damn Strait, a DOMINYUN gelding racing for M.C. Stucks, held on for the second fastest time of :19.800 seconds. Trained by Stacy Charette-Hill, jockey Jorge Torres had the riding call.

Bobby D. Cox bred the graded stakes-placed gelding from Hottesticketintown by Jody O Toole. He has banked $86,152.

Bout Tree Fiddy, a multiple stakes winning son of IVORY JAMES, finished a nose back in the same trial to get the third fastest time of :19.805 seconds.

Patrick Swan conditions the brown gelding for himself and Carry "Rusty" Allred. The homebred earner of nearly $130,000 is out of Hollie Jollie by Fredricksburg. Marcus Swiontek was riding.
