Royal Vista Ranches, LLC, Agent for Deverne Weston sold Grade 1 producer Slightly Icy to MJ Ranch (Mary Jahnel). The stakes-placed daughter of Chicks Beduino was bred to all-time leading sire First Down Dash for a full-sibling to Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Hes Too Icy For Me ($355,127) and stakes-placed Mighty Icy ($20,562).
It all added up to a strong second day, as the average was up at $8,502. For the first two days, 625 horses have sold for a total of $5,313,650. The two-day median is at $4,500.
"We saw another very good day of sales," Spence Kidney, Heritage Place Director of Operations said late Friday. "The demand remained strong with an increase in the average over yesterday’s sessions. Repurchases remained low at 11%. We are very excited about the confidence shown in the Quarter Horse Racing Industry and look forward to a great set of horses tomorrow to conclude the Winter Mixed Sales."
Grant Farms, LLC continued as the leading buyer after two sessions with nine purchases totaling $272,900. The aforementioned MJ Ranch (Mary Jahnel) had two head for $257,000 and EG High Desert Farm has eight at $202,700.
Royal Vista Ranches, LLC, Agent for Lucas Racing Dispersal is the leading consignor after two sessions at $559,950 for 30 head. Bobby D Cox has sold 43 head for $380,000 and Maui Farms, Agent for Joyce or Troy McClennen Dispersal sold 31 head for $282,700.
Leading sire of 2012 money earners, PYC PAINT YOUR WAGON was the #2 leading covering sire by average with three in-foal mares averaging $23,233.
