Secret Miracle Drives to Victory in Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby

SHELBYVILLE, IN—JULY 26, 2014—Under jockey Gabriel Lagunes Secret Miracle drove to a neck win over Jettastic in the $72,640 Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby on Saturday night (Jul 26) at Indiana Grand Race Course. Eagle Illusion finished a head back in the show position.

Racing for J. Guadalupe Arevalo, Secret Miracle completed the 400 yards in :19.866 seconds, a 101 speed index. Picking up her first career stakes win, the NO SECRETS HERE filly earned $39,952 to boost her lifetime earnings mark over $65,000. She has won four of 10 starts for trainer Julio Almanza.

Brent and Karl Peterson bred Secret Miracle in Utah from the Dean Miracle mare Monday Night Miracle.

Jettastic, owned by Rebecca Barton and trained by Anthony Cunningham, earned $14,528 for her second place effort. Jose Beltran rode the Norm Crawford Texas-bred filly.

Trainer Rolando Almanza saddled Eagle Illusion, a filly bred by AQHA President Johnny Trotter, for owner Cesar Rosales. Ridden by Raul Gutierrez, the sorrel miss earned $7,264 for the effort.

Bp Mighty Rare, Little James Brown, Jess Alive, General Lee, Indigo James, Foose On Fire and Secrets Fly completed the field.
